Forgetful not Forgotten, one family’s struggle with Alzheimer’s disease
Please join us for our first Movie Night, featuring an award-winning TV feature documentary, directed by Chris Wynn and produced by Curran Lake Films for TV Ontario.
Chris Wynn’s father, John, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease at 57 and Chris decided to chronicle his family’s journey until John’s final days at the age of 64. An honest and moving film. Chris Wynn, a Montreal filmmaker, will lead the Q & A session following the viewing of the film.
According to The Globe and Mail, “Provides an invaluable insight into how to cope with Alzheimer’s. With Forgetful Not Forgotten, Chris Wynn honours both what is lost and what remains.”
Due to popular demand, an afternoon showing has also been added.

    Caregiver Training Program
    10 week program of caregiver training and support, offers a combination of practical, hands-on skills training with emotional support.
    Concurrent group program is available for the person with dementia, which uses arts-based programming to highlight their strengths and promote interpersonal engagement.

    Hands offer a more intimate glimpse into the soul than eyes, especially when the hands are holding something dear.

    Exhibit includes 15 photos of persons with dementia holding or doing something of personal significance offer a window into their personalities, a glimpse into the thoughts that they can no longer express.
    Catalog that accompanies this exhibit is available for viewing online.
    The Handful of Memories Project was featured in the Toronto Star, September 12, 2009.

    On loan from Downsview Services to Seniors, this exhibit is currently on display in the Resource Centre .

    Coffee Break
    "Make Your Coffee Count" by hosting a Coffee Break to benefit the Alzheimer Society of Toronto. This annual fundraiser offers a chance for friends, co-workers, and customers to make donations in exchange for a cup of coffee or a signature on a Coffee Cup Cut-out.
    Funds raised from Coffee Breaks goes towards a variety of services, such as providing free support, counselling and information to people living with Alzheimer's disease and those who care for them.

    Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon
    Please join the Alzheimer Toronto Team at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon and help us raise $50,000 for people and families dealing with Alzheimer’s.
    Be one of the 80 or more runners or walkers to join our team by taking part in either the full or half marathon or the 5k run/walk.
