Cost of Service: No cost for placement.
Residents in a long-term care homes are expected to pay the monthly fee determined by the Ontario Ministry of Health. Those who cannot pay the full fee, but qualify for financial assistance, can still be considered for admission.
Population Served: Frail seniors, persons with dementia.
Additional Information: CCAC responsibilities in placement in long-term care homes include:
- Determining eligibility for admission
- Assisting clients in finding community-based alternatives
- Managing waiting lists
- Authorizing admission to long-term care homes
- Short-Term Care/Respite Care in Long-Term Care Homes Placement (to recover from illness or injury or allow time off for a caregiver)
- Crisis placement (when the client's support network has broken down and immediate admission to a long-term care home is necessary. In this instance you will be placed in the first suitable home that becomes available. You may transfer to another home you prefer at a later time.)
